IEM Engineering Week : Engineering As A Career Talk

The Water Resources Technical Division (WRTD), IEM and ENGINE Students' Union (UiTM) recently organized a talk for aspiring school students, pertaining to a career in engineering at Wisma IEM on the 24th of April 2009. Students from Sekolah Menengah Agama Bestari, were enlightened by the talk given by WRTD Chairman, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Aminuddin Baki, as he conveyed his wide experience and knowledge, on the many aspects of the engineering profession as well as how engineers have vastly contributed towards the development of the nation. Hopefully activities such as as this will further enhance the interests of the school students in furthering their undergraduate studies in engineering. Postgraduate Fair 2009

Visit to Jeram Sanitary Landfill

Students of CPE675 (Wastewater Engineering) recently organized a trip to Jeram Sanitary Landfill, managed by Worldwide Landfill Sdn. Bhd., with the objective having an on-site view of daily activities occuring there-in. The students visited the wastewater treatment plant located on the premises, that has the challenging task of treating leachate channeled from the excavated cells. Hopefully this has enabled the students to better understand the principles and applications of wastewater treatment which they have learned in the classroom this semester.

The Water Resources Technical Division (WRTD) of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) will be organizing a hands-on workshop on QUAL2E/2K River Water Quality Modeling at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam from the 4th - 6th of May 2009. Dear Students,

Some important dates for you to remember ;

1) Visiting Lecturer Duration : 16 February - 27 March 2009 ; Kindly contact your respective visiting lecturers to arrange a proper date and time for the visit to take place. Also update them if you have been shifted to a different site for the duration stipulated above.

For students who will receive visits from lecturers based in Penang, Terengganu and Sarawak, kindly await for the lecturers to contact you or my e-mail detailing their respective names.

2) Industrial Training Report and Logbook Submission : 17th April 2009 ; for the report format refer "Rules of Industrial Training" document available for download from this blog. For the logbook, kindly discuss with your respective supervisors regarding the frequency of update, although the format stipulates once every three months, perhaps you can do it once every two weeks, depending on your supervisor's schedule. All reports and logbooks must be signed and stamped.

3) Presentation : 16 - 17th April 2009 ; I will update you on the final presentation schedule via e-mail as well as via this blog. The schedule should be out by 1st of April 2009.
